Dana White: Andrei Arlovski to Fight in Next “Couple Months”

Former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski, a 28-year-old fighter who hasn’t competed professionally in nearly nine months, will likely be added to a UFC fight card sometime in the next couple months.

UFC President Dana White mentioned the timetable during Saturday’s post-UFC 79 press conference.

“We’re talking to (Arlovski) right now,” White said. “He’ll probably fight in a couple months.“

Arlovski has one fight remaining on his current contract, but the UFC had been non-committal as to when the fan favorite might return to action.

Earlier this month, Leo Khorlinsky, a member of Arlovski’s management team, told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) that Arlovski and his management team have a health relationship with the UFC and that they’ve been in constant communication with UFC executives — this despite the fact that the Belarusian, who’s riding a two-fight win streak, hasn’t fought in the UFC since an April UFC 70 victory over Fabricio Werdum.

Arlovski (11-5 MMA, 9-4 UFC) posted a clear-cut unanimous-decision win at the overseas event, but it didn’t exactly sit well with fans expecting fireworks from the two heavyweights. In fact, prior to the bout, UFC president Dana White hinted that the winner might be in line for a title shot.

It, of course, never came.
As it stands, there is no word if Arlovski might sign a new deal before his next fight with the UFC.
