Battle of New England Faves Proposed for April 2

Ken Florian and Joe Lauzon have verbally agreed to meet in a headlining UFC lightweight bout on Spike TV, Florian’s camp confirmed Wednesday. The proposed match-up would see the pair of popular New England fighters meet in the main event for a UFC Fight Night tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, April 2.

A venue for the event has not been announced, though the Massachusetts natives would not have the pleasure of mixing it up in their home state. MMA remains unregulated in the Bay State.

Contracts have not yet been presented to “The Ultimate Fighter” alumni, though they are expected shortly.

Well-spoken Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt Florian (7-3) has strung together a three-fight win streak in the Octagon, topped by his first-round submission of Din Thomas (20-7) at UFC Fight Night 11 on Sept. 19 in Las Vegas. Florian, 29, began his UFC career as an undersized middleweight on the “The Ultimate Fighter 1,” falling to welterweight Diego Sanchez (17-2) in the April 2005 series’ finale.

Lauzon (16-3) became one of the breakout underdog stars of 2006 when he knocked down former UFC lightweight champion Jens Pulver (22-8-1) and finished the job in a cool 48 seconds. A stint on “The Ultimate Fighter 5” solidified the 23-year-old’s appeal, and he continued his slow ascension with a 1:14 trouncing of the previously undefeated Jason Reinhardt (18-1) at UFC 78 “Validation” on Nov. 17 in Newark, N.J.

I like both guys oviously but i am going with Kenflo it will be a war!

TRUE! Kenny deserves a better fight than this but on the flip side Joe Lauzon is tecchnically capable of winning this fight,...I DON'T THINK HE WILL but you never know-

Bonnar vs. Hamill ?

Stephan Bonnar (11-4 MMA, 5-3 UFC) and Matt Hamill (3-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC) has also been discussed as a possibility. The light-heavyweight clash could earn co-main event status if officially signed, we’re told.

WOW! This will be a hell of a fight especially if Hammil is 100% healthy,..of course I see Bonnar winning this fight by ref stoppage due to strikes. This fight won't go to the cards, hopefully Stephan is the best shape of his life-

I didn't see anyone running a bunch of smack talk on this one yet,...tough fight to call especially after Hammils good showing against Bisping- One thing I will give Hammil is it is impossible to pack on any more muscle on a 205 pound frame than what he has,..hopefully this isn't the time Matt realizes that he needs to start utilizing his olympic wrestling!! PLEASE XTREME COUTURE HAVE A GAMEPLAN FOR BONNAR IN THIS FIGHT!

this is gonna be a war. i got the first season of the ultimate fighter for christmas. i forgot how much of a badass bonnar is while still maintaining the look of a douchebag. lol i think i'm going to lean towards the american pshyco for this. he's got way more tools for hammil.

If Bonner wins id like to see a rematch with him and Evans!
