"Ruthless" Robbie Lawler knocked out Frank Trigg in the fourth round to regain the ICON Sport Middleweight Championship at the Blaisdell Arena in Honolulu, Hawaii on Saturday night.
The main event of ICON Sport "Epic" was just that: Epic. Frank Trigg looked to be in control of the fight in the first round, securing multiple takedowns and working his ground and pound offense within Lawler's guard. Round two saw Lawler rebound, landing big shots that sent Trigg to the canvas on two seperate occasions.
Trigg came back and won round three, but was brutally knocked out by a combination of punches from Lawler mid-way the fourth round.
Also on the card, Jason "Mayhem" Miller dominated his opponent, and Renato "Charuto" Verissimo moved into potential ICON title contention.
Miller looked very impressive and made quick work of Hector Urbina, knocking him out early in round one, while Verissimo took out Lars Havens by TKO after getting the fight to the ground and transitioning to the mount position.
The ICON Middleweight division has a new contender, a new champion with a familiar face, and several interesting potential match-ups on the table. Let the rematches begin.
