Billy Hull of the Start Bulletin in Hawaii filed the following report on Saturday’s Icon show featuring Frank Trigg defending his belt against Robbie Lawler:

It's hard to believe, but just eight months ago, a 230-pound Frank Trigg sat at home on the couch and did nothing but eat chicken and drink wine.

"I was done," Trigg said. "I literally sat at home, did nothing, and blew up to 230. I was over (fighting)."

But when an offer to square off against Jason "Mayhem" Miller in Hawaii for the Icon Sport world middleweight title last December came about, it was enough to get Trigg off the couch and back in the ring.

"I couldn't turn it down," Trigg explained. "When I saw him fight (Georges) St.-Pierre in the UFC, he took a beating, but at the end, he kept coming at you and since then I always wanted to fight him."

Despite cutting 40 pounds in 10 weeks, Trigg (15-5) defeated Miller by TKO for the belt. He is back to defend it against former champion "Ruthless" Robbie Lawler (13-4) in the main event of tomorrow night's Icon Sport: Epic event at the Blaisdell Arena…

i think trigg needs to get this fight to the ground quick he dont need stand with "Ruthless" Robbie Lawler ... Go ahead and put the new purple belt in BJJ to use!

Agreed. He'll probably go with the same gameplan he had for Masaki.

I just signed up at Proelite.com a few minutes ago. Sucks that it's a 1:30 AM fight again for our East Coasters.

Yes. I was just bitching about it on the Trigg board.

It's obvious they didn't test their bandwidth. If it's this bad now, just wait until they have to stream video later.

ill b here. this is actually the first icon matches i have seen. anyone know how 2 make the screen bigger?

im watching i just watched the whole first fight on the small video damn forgot to double click the video its late im fading fast!

Well, Jdiddy was right-Trigg shouldn't of stood with Ruthless Robbie Lawler...better luck next time Frank-

That was a good fight but you could see it coming Trigg could not take him down after the first round! I mean Lawler looked like he was just so relaxed the whole fight almost too relaxed! But the KO was brutal and that last punch was unnecessary the ref could clearly see Trigg was out!

I will say this Trigg hung in there and took some good shots he has a good chin no one punch ended the fight it was a nast combo!
