The Nevada State Athletic Commission has released the list of medical suspensions from April 5’s UFC Fight Night 9, and most of the evening’s 16 fighters emerged from the Las Vegas event without substantial injury.
The nationally televised event, which took place at The Palms, aired on Spike TV and featured a main event of Joe Stevenson vs. Melvin Guillard.
According to the documents, the most serious injuries were suffered by Dokonjonosuke Mishima (who got a broken nose during his main-card loss to Kenny Florian) and by Just McCully (who may have suffered damage to his left elbow in a main-card win over Antoni Hardonk). McCully has been ordered to to undergo an MRI on the arm.
One fighter who surprisingly dodged any injuries was Florian, who weathered a late-fight kneebar attempt by Mishima. Florian appeared to be on the verge of tapping but pried himself out of the submission attempt and won the fight via rear-naked choke a few minutes later.
