UFC 83: Michael Bisping vs. Charles McCarthy

Michael Bisping (15-1) will make his middleweight debut against Charles McCarthy (10-4) at UFC 83 in London, England, on March 8, according to a report from Sherdog.com.

“The Count” is coming off the first professional loss of his mixed martial arts career, dropping a split decision to Rashad Evans at UFC 78: “Validation” last month. Bisping — light heavyweight winner of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 3 — his camp and UFC executives decided that a move down a weight class was in order after the performance.

That’s due in part because Bisping is on the smaller end in terms of 205-pound fighters and the 185-pound weight class is hungry for talented marquee names.

McCarthy — also known as “Captain Miserable” from his stint on TUF 4 — has been inactive since submitting Gideon Ray (armbar) at the TUF 4 Finale in November 2006. He trains with the prestigious American Top Team camp located in South Florida.

No venue or other fights have been rumored for UFC 83 at this time.

this is a undercard fight for sure! the only way it makes main card is over in England!

If Bisping loses to Captain Miserable nothing positive comes out of that fight, it will mean Bisping wasn't for real and secondly it will be more camera time for the most miserable bastard on the face of the MMA earth-

I see Bisping as winning it. He is a good fighter and is still improving. Hopefully he proves he is the real deal and will make a name for himself as a middleweight.

I hate how the UFC spoon feeds certain fighters. Bisping would not get this fight if the UFC was not trying to expand to the UK ...which makes them want to build him up.

lol, I will never forget on TUF 3, when Hamill said something about Bisping being fron NEW England and not just regular England/UK and Bisping's eyes just about popped out of his head.
