| UFC veteran Robbie Lawler, who last fought for the organization at UFC 50 in 2004, will be returning to the UFC as an assistant coach on Matt Hughes’ Ultimate Fighter 6 team. Lawler is a 14-4 mixed martial artist who trains with Miletich Fighting Systems. He holds UFC wins over Aaron Riley, Steve Berger, Tiki Ghosn, and Chris Lytle. His UFC losses came at the hands of Pete Spratt, Nick Diaz, and Evan Tanner. After leaving the UFC Lawler has gone 6-1 including winning the Icon Sport Middleweight Title from Frank Trigg in his last MMA fight. Based on his record since leaving the UFC he may return to the octagon as a competitor rather than a coach. The Ultimate Fighter 6 is welterweight exclusive and is currently taping. Coaches for this season are welterweight champion Matt Serra and challenger Matt Hughes. The show will debut on September 19th immediately following UFC Fight Night 11. The live finale of the show will take place on December 8th on Spike TV with Matt Hughes and Matt Serra facing off for the welterweight title on December 29th at UFC 79. | |
