The Ultimate Fighter 5‘s “Handsome” Matt Wiman (7-3 MMA, 1-1 UFC), who scored a first-round TKO of Brian Geraghty at the show’s live finale last month, will return to the Octagon to take on Japanese Judo expert Michihiro Omigawa (4-3 MMA, 0-0 UFC) at UFC 76.

UFC 76 takes place Sept. 22 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif.
Wiman, who was one of the favorites to win the latest season of The Ultimate Fighter reality series, defeated Marlon Sims (in impressive fashion) in the opening round but ultimately succumbed to Manny Gamburyan in the show’s quarterfinals.

Prior to joining the show’s cast, the 23-year-old Tulsa Top Team member suffered an imfamous KO — via flying knee — to Spencer Fisher at UFC 60. The Extreme Fighting League veteran, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu blue belt, will now take on UFC newcomer Omigawa, a PRIDE Bushido and DEEP International veteran who’s riding a current three-fight win streak.

The 31-year-old may best be remembered — by U.S. fans, anyway — for a wild split-decision victory over Jason Chambers at a 2006 ICON Sport event (Lawler vs. Niko 2) that took place in Honolulu, Hawaii.
The Wiman-Omigawa bout will appear on the night’s undercard.

Other bouts scheduled for UFC 76 include Chuck Liddell vs. Keith Jardine, Mauricio “Shogun” Rua vs. Forrest Griffin, and Diego Sanchez vs. Jon Fitch.
