UFC.com Releases “Unofficial” First-Half Awards

UFC.com’s Thomas Gerbasi released an interesting series of stories this past week ranking the top fights, fighters, knockouts and submissions from the first half of the 2007 fight season.

His rankings (all of which are labeled “unofficial” since their Gerbasi’s choosing and not the UFC’s) include detailed analysis and persuasive arguments. It’s essentially a great series to recap and remember the first six months — and 10 events — of 2007.

Now, before you read one of his picks and get all crazy, be sure to read Gerbasi’s reasoning. For example, of the 90 or so fights that took place in the first of 2007, I wouldn’t have immediately considered UFC 70’s fight between local favorite Michael Bisping and MMA journeyman Elvis Sinosic to be a top-five fight. However, when the bout’s significance is detailed and the crowd’s reaction taken into consideration, I can at least understand why Gerbasi has it in his top five.

I somewhat agree with these!

I agree with with all of them except the submission of Pulver by Penn, nothing exciting about that and everyone saw it coming it was just a matter of time before it happened!!

Yeah I like the slick don’t see it coming submissions! Hell the one Lytle just pulled of was a double submission had to at one time!! And just because it was BJJ black belt VS. Black belt Silva vs. Lutter should be up there!

i think serra's tko should be over rampage's. that was more shocking for me.

I agree with that, EVERYONE knew Rampage was gonna do that so it wasn't a surprise. Now Serra on the other hand was a huge shock!!!

Hey Sampson at 200 you will automatically switch to red belt! It is so much better with the new features to the site! I just set the parameters and all the promotions are automatic.. yes im going to say it
